This guide summarises public rules and criteria as of 9 October 2026. It is not legal advice: each store decides what applies to it.

01. A boleta reaches the SII within 1 hour

Each electronic boleta must be sent to the SII immediately, within at most 1 hour of being generated. The clock runs from generation (signature and timbre), not from the accounting date. Facturas and other documents follow a different rule: they are sent before delivery to the receiver or before goods are moved.

What it means for an AI sale
A sale closed by an agent must issue and send the boleta automatically, with retries and alerts before the hour runs out.

02. Generic RUT 66.666.666-6, except above 135 UF

When the buyer's RUT is unknown, the boleta uses the generic RUT 66.666.666-6. Since 1 September 2025, a boleta whose total exceeds 135 UF must carry the buyer's real RUT, name, payment method and a clear description of the goods. 55.555.555-5 is for export documents, not boletas.

What it means for an AI sale
For large purchases the agent must ask for the buyer's details before payment; if they are missing, the store does not issue with the generic RUT.

03. No daily boleta report since 2022

The daily sales summary (formerly the folio consumption report) was eliminated for all issuers on 1 August 2022. The SII builds the Sales Register each day from the boletas it receives. The issuer must still send each boleta on time, review the register when needed and file the monthly F29.

What it means for an AI sale
An implementation doesn't need to produce daily summaries; it must make sure every boleta reaches the SII.

04. Factura: the buyer accepts or claims within 8 days

The buyer accepts or claims an electronic factura in the SII register within 8 calendar days of the SII receiving it; if it does nothing, the factura is accepted. Payment is due within at most 30 calendar days, except for the exceptional agreements the law allows. Referencing the purchase order, HES or contract is not a legal requirement; it is the practice of large buyers and the State.

What it means for an AI sale
The acknowledgement comes from the buying company in the SII, not from its purchasing agent. Letting the agent request references avoids commercial rejections.

05. When an AI sells, the consumer must know

In SERNAC's interpretation (Res. Ex. 33/2022), the consumer must be told, transparently and in time, that they are interacting with artificial intelligence, what it is used for and what data it processes, and be given reasonable grounds when the AI refuses a purchase. SERNAC also warns against dark patterns and manipulation, and notes that personalised prices may amount to arbitrary discrimination.

The agent declares that it is an AI and the store keeps that notice with the sale.

06. For goods, withdrawal can be excluded in only four cases, disclosed next to the price

In distance sales, the right of withdrawal can only be excluded for goods that cannot be returned because they were installed or used, perishables or goods expiring within 10 days, goods made to the buyer's specification, and personal or hygiene goods whose seal the buyer opened. The exclusion is disclosed before payment, in the same place and at the same moment as the price, no smaller, using the words «derecho a retracto». It never limits the legal warranty. For services, the seller may exclude it by saying so expressly.

What it means for an AI sale
The exclusion notice travels as a mandatory message the agent cannot hide, next to the total.
